Charles asks…In the UK, what weapons are *unofficially* allowed by the police for personal protection?Obviously knives are illegal, but I am wondering what weapons the police are prepared to turn a blind eye too. I sometimes carry a roll of coins but if I have to go to Bristol I'd like to be able to carry something more substantial.
The official police advice is a bit wishy-washy and doesn't tell you what to do in the event of being confronted by drunks looking for a fight, but I did notice
